Adult Children & Aging Parents
Issues to be Discussed & Wisdoms to be Shared
Nobody teaches us how to parent our adult children, nor does anyone coach adult children on how to be in relationship with their aging parents. There are many difficult discussions to be had and wisdoms to be shared. Dr Cindy Baum-Baicker will lead us in a consideration of how we can have conversations that overcome frustrations, dispel anger and instead deepen and enrich our relationships.
Cynthia Baum-Baicker, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist in Philadelphia and Doylestown, PA. Founder of the Wisdom Project for the American Psychological Association’s Division of Psychoanalysis, Dr Baum-Baicker is also Past-President of the Section on Couples and Family Therapy and the former Board Chair of the Scattergood Foundation for Behavioral Health. In addition to training as a psychoanalyst, she has taught clinical gerontology and case consultation.
Dr Baum-Baicker has also authored papers on the wisdom, health benefits of light and moderate drinking, political stress, and the treatment of depression among nursing home residents. Her pieces in Psychology Today include one on cognitive health in old age.
